I remember
when I was a kid
riding in the back
of the station wagon
telling my little brother
that I had the moon on a string
and I gave the string to him.
I still love you, brother.

No attribution – does that mean this is your own?
Yep!
I like it! But I’d not have guessed that you do free verse, given your love for the Victorian and earlier highly structured stuff.
Thank you! It came to me during a cab ride home, seeing the moon, and how it travels along parallel as one drives along. I remembered that childhood episode again.
I’m not a big fan of free verse, you’re right. But it was out of my control at the time!
