Comparison Table of the Forty Martyrs and `Azīzā´el Lectionaries

This table compares the two very similar East Syrian lectionaries: that of the Monastery of Mār `Azīzā´el and that of the Church of the Forty Martyrs. This format helps to display not only the similar church calendar employed in the two lectionaries, but also the similar pericopes/lessons for each of the various commemorations and events.

I have also provided elsewhere the Monastery of `Azīzā´el and the Church of the Forty Martyrs lectionaries individually.

One little problem I have yet to rectify between these two lectionaries is the reading for “Commemoration of the Martyrs.” Note that the `Azīzā´el lectionary information provided by Voobus gives the NT passage as 1Cor 3.17-4.6. The Forty Martyrs lectionary information indicates the reading is 2Cor 3.17-4.6. Until I have checked the actual facsimiles, to ascertain the correct book of Corinthians to which this pericope belongs, I will keep both citations marked with “[sic].”
