The American Theological Library Association, some of you will be aware, produces the ATLASerials database, a bibliographic index of more than 185,000 articles and book reviews of religous-related subjects, with links to the full content of all of those, viewable online on your own computer, or printable for your under the tree, falling leaf, autumnal reading pleasure. The title list includes extensive (and eventually complete) back-runs (not including the current year) of such great and necessary journals as Catholic Biblical Quarterly, Journal of Biblical Literature, Biblical Archaeologist and Near Eastern Archaeology, Journal for the Study of the New Testament, Journal for the Study of the Old Testament, Novum Testamentum, and Vetus Testamentum, with new volumes and journals being added regularly. It’s an amazing resource that I’ve been using for several years, and have found absolutely vital for finding various articles that our libraries either misplaced or don’t possess. Not only is it of great benefit to use, but this project is something that has managed to do exactly what we’ve been expecting this newfangled digital age to provide us: a fully indexed and searchable library that had formerly been completely offline and seldom (or perhaps never!) available in any single library. As such, the more support the project receives for furtherance of its goals, the better for all of us.
The reason I’m posting this is that ATLA is now offering a really, extraordinarily good promotional price for individual/personal subscriptions. If your institution doesn’t subscribe to ATLASerials, or if you aren’t affiliated with any institution at all, you can purchase your own subscription for the rest of this year and all of next year for a mere $132 (the savings is in the promotional price of $99 for all of 2007, with the rest of this year prorated for only $33 dollars). You can then access ATLASerials online, reading and printing to your heart’s content, and all for less than the price of this writer’s monthly coffee bill. It’s a steal, I tell you, a steal!!!
See the signup page, and if you do sign up, they’ve told me that you should put the following in the comment field, to specify which length of access you’ll want:
ATLAS® 2006 *plus* ATLAS® 2007 16-month (9-1-2006 to 12-31-2007) prorated subscription for $132 [$33 + $99 = $132]
ATLAS® 2006 4-month (9-1-2006 to 12-31-2006) prorated subscription for $33
So, if any reader of this humble blog is interested in signing up for ATLASerials, get over there and sign up quickly, because, not to sound like a late night infomercial, but indeed, this is a limited-time offer. It’s very well worth the price.
